A number of agencies within the greater West Point area receive financial and in-kind support from St Johns Church.
St. John’s Hall: A major outreach is the availability of St. John’s Hall for community and charitable events. Organizations that benefit from the space include the Kiwanis Club, The Girl Scouts of America, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), West Point High School Students Without Drugs, Parent Child Development Corporation (PCDC) Head Start Program and the Middle Peninsula GED Program.
Good Neighbor Center: The Good Neighbor Center is the charitable arm of the West Point Minister’s Association, providing food, clothing, household items and financial aid to those in need. On the first Sunday of each month, St. John's collects non-perishable food to help stock the food pantry. In addition, various youth and adult members of the parish have helped with their time and talents at the Center, as well as through monetary contributions. The Center is also a recipient of our church’s annual giving.
Parent Child Development Corporation (PCDC): The Parent-Child Development Corporation, commonly known as PCDC, is a charitable, community-based agency serving young children and their families. Its primary focus is on education and family support. PCDC directs the Head Start program for West Point and six nearby counties. PCDC also provides fee-for-service day and after school care. St. Johns supports PCDC financially and several parishioners serve on the corporate board of directors.
Quin Rivers, Inc.: St. John’s provides financial aid to Quin Rivers, Inc. a local agency that provides rent and mortgage assistance, domestic violence and sexual assault intervention and prevention, home visiting services to new families, and youth development. Quin Rivers Project Hope uses St. John's Hall to offer a summer day camp to local children from abusive home environments.
